Train up for learning martial arts?

How can I train up for learning martial arts?

What are the steps involved to be proficient in martial arts training?

What are the general things to do to prepare your body for such training? I don’t smoke, reasonably fit….I would be a beginner in most senses of the word, so I would start from the bottom.

    A good question. It depends largely on the art you’re planning on learning. If it’s Taekwondo for instance, you might want to practice sprinting and doing many leg stretches- they’re all about kicking and bouncing on the balls of the feet to snap in fast kicks. If you’re doing boxing, it might be worthwhile to build some muscle mass for your arms through weights.

    I wouldn’t worry too much about getting ready though. If you’re generally fit, the martial art will train you. As you keep at it, you’ll find yourself using muscles you didn’t know you had. These will develop to the point where you don’t notice yourself getting tired/sore the day after training. Depending on the art, that’ll be different muscle groups. So go at it and have fun!

    The truth about Martial Arts is. You can be fat, thin, tall, stumpy, disabled or just down right lazy Martial Arts caters for everyone. Find a Mixed Martial Arts gym near you & just turn up. You’ll see all sorts there and because its "Mixed" Martial Arts you’ll find one that suits you.
    Could be Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Grecko Roman Wrestling, Judo, Krav Maga, boxing, kick boxing or out & out brawling.

    The steps…to be honest it’s just a lot of hard work and dedication. Working on cardiovascular fitness and muscle tone is good, as is plyometrics (google it). Go to a class (most MA classes will let you sit in for free, some let you have a lesson or two for free) and see if you like it. You need to be disciplined and willing to work hard, and it’s very rewarding and good fun.

    By training in martial arts.

    Once you sign up for the martial art class of your choice, as a beginner you start with just the basics, and go from there, conditioning comes with time.

    You start from the bottom anyway.

    There is no "prep school for wanna’ be martial artists."

    Just sign up and take your first class!

    After that, it’s all about time and effort.
