a 45 special with the point of the bullet filed down
it will be a blunt impact wont go through their leg but will impact hard against the bone! they won’t try anything after that!

I am a gun owner and have been for many years. In my opinion and experience, a 45 automatic pistol is an excellent defense weapon. It is dependable, can be small enough to handle by a man or woman, is easy to operate, and has sufficient muzzle velocity to stop anyone threatening you in their tracks. A 40 cal or 9mm can also be just as effective, and is what many law enforcement officers are using today. The military uses either a 45 or 9 mm.

The most effective weapon is the one you can use proficiently and safely. Stopping power won’t mean much to you when the doctors are picking your bullets out of innocent bystanders or maybe your own foot. If your are new to firearms use a revolver and practice constantly. If you are knowledgeable and capable with handguns, you can use a semi-automatic, but again, maintain high levels of practice. When you take a loaded handgun out into public places you are assuming a very high level of responsibility for the safety of others around you. There is no so thing as enough practice. I always tell people to get two identical weapons. One to carry and the other to wear out practicing. Finally you must remember this, the weapon is a delivery system, the bullet does the work. Choose a bullet in a caliber that is effective at short range (you won’t be fighting artillery duels) and one that stops in the first target it encounters. Hopefully that will be your intended target. Hollow point, semi-jacket, lightweight alloy. All good attributes in a self-defense round. Anywhere from .380 to .45 caliber, depending on the size and weight of the weapon you are willing to tote. Finally keep this in mind. Most gunfights take place without warning at a distance of 7 to 21 feet, are over in less than 3 seconds and there is a winner and a loser. Do you really feel that you wish to indulge in this activity? More importantly, are you mentally and physically ready to participate in a contest wherein the loser loses everything, including life itself? Better be sure.

Springfield XD Compact chambered in .40S&W is a good concealed carry self-defense weapon.

Got something to say?
