In the game Assassins, what do you do if somebody is killed in self defense?

Okay, so if you are attacked by somebody in the game, and you kill your attacker (in self defense) before they kill you, what happens?
You guys are both retards.

    It depends on the ruleset, as there is no "universal" set of rules.

    Some specific games do not allow self-defense "kills." Basically, the "target" is only allowed to avoid and evade, not fight back. In these games, using the "kill" method (e.g. squirt gun, sock) on the assassin simply doesn’t count for anything.

    Other games that do allow self-defense kills, thereby eliminating the assassin from the game. Some games then assign a new assassin to this person (typically another player who has already killed his assigned target). Typically such games need to include measures that prevent the target from knowing who the assassin is, thus preventing the unfair situation of the target hunting down their own killer in a preemptive strike.
