I'm trying to think in terms of myself being as one in your position and wondering sort of advice I would give to myself. I have no interest, personally, in being a self defense instructor, but if I did then I suppose maybe I might try to find somebody already accredited in some form of reality based combat training straight-up self defense kind of program and become a student. For me this would mean relocating to a different town entirely. Not sure whats available in your area. maybe even check with local law enforcement types and see if maybe they can suggest something. "Model mugging" programs used to seem popular and maybe still is. If so, then maybe they offer an instructor training course as well. I'll look around the internet and see what happens. I'm sure there are some things available offering realistic useful self defense instruction for common folks which doesn't necessarily require years of martial arts training. Then there are those who would totally disagree. Even blackbelts with years of training are sometimes plagued with wondering "would this actually work for me in a real life or death moment?" As far as the model mugging thing goes, I understand that it is a program created by a woman who, in spite of her proficiency as a martial artist, discovered that when confronted by a real life attacker, her brain froze and she was unable to respond and was subsequently raped as a result. I'm just rambling and I haven't really succeeded in answering your question, have I? I hope you find what you're needing.

accredited isn't something you should worry about. I've seen some of these "karate" s.d. classes. My dog could do better, wait my dog is dead, Yea my dog could do better.
There isn't a licence or piece of paper that is required to instruct in self-defense, none that I am aware of. If there were then 99% of all martial art dojo's would close there doors.

Got something to say?
