I have been using this product for close to a year now, but I have only been able to continue the use because of alterations I have made. The first major problem I encountered was the metal clips you put the straps through continued to bend and eventually would slide out of their loop. This was a continual pain having to fix them during sparring sessions. I eventually turned all of the clips so that the metal opening was facing outwards and tapped them so the metal wouldn't bend and the strap couldn't slide through the hole. I little confusing, sorry. The second problem I had was with the instep. The minute someone attempted to grab my foot during a kick and grabbed the shin guard instead the strap for the bottom of the foot broke. I used duck tape all the was around the bottom of the foot to fix this problem. Don't buy its just not worth it, especially for the cost.

Overall these guards are well put together. I had the same problem with the elastic breaking on the instep, but I was also wearing shoes (so I expected it). A triple-stitch completely fixed it, and I wear them with shoes no problem.

In terms of padding, they're some of the best I've used. They can takes kicks very well, without leaving you with huge bruises all over your shins. All-in-all, I'd recommend them, but be prepared to re-attach the elastic strap on the instep if you plan on using them with shoes.

Steer clear from these shin guards. Elastic foot strap detached after 2 uses. Very low quality item. You get what you pay for. Opt for Twins or Fairtex instead. You'll be glad you did.

I am usually pleased with Everlast quality, but it was not the case with these. The stitching between the shin pad and instep pad started coming loose fairly quickly. They still have not separated, but they are well on their way. The band on the bottom of the instep guard is almost completely off on one side. They get a solid amount of use, but they had disappointed on the amount of wear. The amount of padding is good and pads themselves work well, but they are falling apart at the connections. Put your money into something else.

I've worn these for sparring 3 times so far and they work well with the stnd-up as well as the ground game. They seem as durable and I haven't had the problems others folks spoke about with the elastic.

If you're wearing shoes, you can use these without the elastic around the foot, and wear them just like a baseball catcher. If you're bare footed the elastic works great.
