Question about carrrying a baton
I’m thinking on purchasing a baton stick for self defense, but I wasn’t sure if it was legal if I carried it in my bag.

Got something to say?

it is illegal if you are carrying it as a weapon which in this case you would be. Don’t go into england (especially if you dont feel that safe).
lmfao just get a knife!
Think about your question.
Yes it is illegal, even if self defense you are taking it out with the intention to physically hurt someone with it.
Whats next a knife a gun, grow up and be a bigger person than the other fools.
Look at the news, it makes me sick, if you are worried about your safety learn self defense, thai boxing, karate, a much more positive form, which will protect you by not killing someone else.
Sorry but that is ridiculous to think that way, and very sad.
probably, self-defence is illegal in the uk, heaven forbid you should hurt some poor criminal trying to kill you for a few quid!
yes! carrying a weapon with intent to harm others, even if it is self defence! just get a rape alarm like other people
Yes. Only the police are allowed to carry weapons, how else could they feel safe while battering you.
Probably not. England is a quaint place with quaint laws and mostly they are in defence of folk. So even if you were stopped for any reason and they found a ‘weapon’ on your person, or in your bag, the fuzz will want you to come down to the station to explain why you are carrying a dangerous weapon and whom it is you plan to kill and are you part of a wider terrorist conspiracy to blow up parliament etc.
Yes it’s illegal to carry a weapon.
If you were stopped and searched they would find a weapon, you would say it’s for self-defence but there’s no way you could prove you didn’t want to smack some random person around the head with it if they looked at you funny.
I don’t carry a weapon but based on personal experience I no longer walk the streets in certain areas at certain times, it shouldn’t be like that but the police can’t control the people any more and I’m not running the risk of being stabbed or beaten up by walking in places that I deem to be “risky” any more.

Just wanted to make a point related to your question but not entirely on topic.
JuJu >> ” grow up and be a bigger person than the other fools. ”
Amazing… Truly amazing…
Yes, let’s all grow up shall we, walk around like there’s no problems in the world.
I understand FULLY why this guy wants to carry a baton for self-defence because I’ve been beaten up twice in recent years and both times I did nothing wrong in anyones eyes, I was just minding my own business. I was the “Grown up” and thought myself above this kind of thing, didn’t carry weapons and didn’t think about fighting.
First incident, broke my jaw from my head being jumped on by two guys who I walked past and attacked me from behind… The other incident was a group of youths, about eight, who simply beat the crap out of me for walking down the road.
Try to think about the world less as a ball of fluffy pink kittens and more as a pile of steaming manure with blades and needles sticking out of it hell bent on kicking your backside when you let your guard down and maybe, just maybe, you’ll manage to avoid having the crap kicked out of you for no reason at all like I did.
If a group of five kids corner you walking down the street and you are the “Grown up” and decide you’re not going to be pro-active what exactly do you think you would do if one or two of them pulled a knife on you..? I will tell you exactly what you’ll do… You’ll get stabbed.
Conclusion : The world is not a ball of fluffy pink kittens.
It is illegal because the law is an ass. The law allows you to meet force with ( no more than necessary ) force so if someone attacks you with a baton you should be allowed to protect yourself with a baton but since you're not allowed to possess one you can't logically protect yourself. The law is so vague about how much force you can use that it has to be decided by a jury.
This is what you do;
Carry a baton to protect yourself and if you're attacked use this means to kill your attacker you then have only one side to the story which is that you took the weapon off him and you were terrified and fighting for your life.
Edit. Someone has deleted a three letter word ( again ) which is another name for a donkey beginning with a and ending in two s's from a quote from Charles Dickens Oliver Twist. IS THE WORLD GOING BLOODY MAD OR WHAT!!!!????
