How do people treat you when they find out you practice martial arts?

May 31, 2010

I’ve noticed when people learn that I’m a trained fighter they tend to show me more respect. Sometimes I think they even fear me, I can see it in their eyes when I tell them about my martial arts experience.

I’ve heard stories about tough guys trying to pick fights with martial artists. That hasn’t happened to me yet, but I feel like I’m prepared to handle anyone who steps up to me.

whats better for street fighting/self defense muy thai or karate?

May 31, 2010

Who would win in a fight a true karate expert or a great muy thai fighter. I know karate is made for self defense, and is also a life style. I am also aware of the fact that Karate is not a ring sport, so which art would do better in the streets. I would like to take up one, but i always run into black belts that i can beat up, while muy thai looks like the real deal for street fighting.

I plan on joining the military after high-school and was wondering if martial arts would help at all with that?

What are the most effective forms of self defence?

May 29, 2010

What are the most effective forms of self defence?

Realistic ones say against knives, guns, bottles, in and around cars against mulitple mugger who if you end up on the floor kick your head in…Maybe in a subway train, bus bar etc not a nice clean dojo and one that can teach you to be resourceful and utilize whats around you ie pool cue

Street fight dirty not sport. Ideally one that can get you aggressive enough to psychologically be able to fight and willing if you are too nice.

Plus how to you do ‘anit freeze’ as in anti when you get into reral trouble freeze up and go cold and weak like a bunny in headlights reagardless of how well you did in class?
