How Many of You Have Used Your Gun in Self Defense?

Question..how many people have actually used their gun?
I am trying to guage how many people have actually used their gun in an assault or home invasion situation in self defense. It seems that gun proponents often use this as a reason for owning a gun. Is it as common as they make it sound? This is not intended to be an argument for or against gun ownership. It is merely an empirical analysis on gun ownership.

Modern Day Self-defense Martial Art?
November 24, 2009
What is the most practical and applicable martial art for modern day self-defense?
I don't care about it being "fancy", I don't care about meditation, or character development, I just want to be better able to defend myself.
Right now I was thinking of looking into Defendo (Bill Underwood's martial art that spun off of Combato, not the newer, unrelated one) or Emerson Combat Systems. If anyone more familiar with martial arts has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for something with emphasis on unarmed self-defense with the goal of knocking an aggressor(or aggressors) unconscious, gun and knife disarms, and improvised weapons.

Unusual Martial Arts Weapons and Techniques?

Why do martial arts people use unusual weapons and techniques?
Why is it that martial arts people use unusual weapons such as nunchucks, flying stars, throwing smoke bombs, or weird swords, when it would be much easier to kill with a shotgun?
